35th Ave Locksmith Wants To Help Build A Safer Community

It’s time to stop the violence . . . that is killing our children and our communities. It’s time to help each other build neighborhoods where each of us kids, teens, adults can feel safe and secure from crime. A tough task? Yes, but it’s a challenge that each of us can do something about. We can reclaim our communities child by child, family by family, neighborhood by neighborhood.

35th Ave Locksmith wants to promote this challenge? Because every child deserves a safe and healthy home and childhood. Because no community can afford the costs of violence. Because a healthier, safer community benefits each of us. Because failing to act costs lives and resources. Because our children should not have to raise their children amid violence. Because if we don’t stop it, no one will.

Safer Communities Are Everyone’s Business

Violence holds victims, families, friends, and neighborhoods hostage. It rips communities apart or prevents them from coming together. Violence takes many forms. Assaults, robberies and homicides are directly violent, but crimes like burglary are often cloaked in violence and can cause paralyzing fear.

Violence is not just about attacks by strangers. In about half the rapes in this country, the attacker  knew the victim. In more than half the murders, the murderer and victim knew each other. Assaults are more likely between people who know each other than between strangers.

Domestic violence wrenches apart millions of families each year. Child abuse, overwhelmingly involving someone close to the child, hurts more than a million children a year. Only robberies more commonly involve strangers than acquaintances.

Weapons are part of the problem. They make violence more deadly and less personal. Nine out of ten murders involve a weapon; eight of ten involve a firearm. Most robberies involve the use of a weapon, most frequently a gun. One in five children has reported taking a weapon of some kind to school, most often for self-protection against others whom they believe have weapons. If you have a gun you need a gun safe or at the least a trigger lock.

Why go beyond protecting yourself and your family? Because violence penetrates schools, workplaces, and public spaces. It sucks the life out of communities everywhere.

35th Ave Locksmith Presents Key Arizona Places: Jerome

"United Verde open pit pano" Jerome, Arizona by Finetooth
The sometimes called ghost town of Jerome is a town in the Black Hills of Yavapai County. Founded in the late 19th century on Cleopatra Hill overlooking the Verde Valley, it is more than 5,000 feet above sea level. It is about 100 miles north of Phoenix along State Route 89A between Sedona and Prescott. Supported in its heyday by rich copper mines, it was home to more than 10,000 people in the 1920s. As of the 2010 census, its population was 444.

The town owes its existence mainly to two ore bodies that formed about 1.75 billion years ago along a ring fault in the caldera of an undersea volcano. Tectonic plate movements, plate collisions, uplift, deposition, erosion, and other geologic processes eventually exposed the tip of one ozf the ore bodies and pushed the other close to the surface, both near Jerome. In the late 19th century, the United Verde Mine, developed by William A. Clark, extracted ore bearing copper, gold, silver, and other metals from the larger of the two. The United Verde Extension (UVX) Mine, owned by James Douglas, Jr., depended on the other huge deposit. In total, the copper deposits discovered in the vicinity of Jerome were among the richest ever found in any time or place.

Jerome made news in 1917, when strikes involving the Industrial Workers of the World led to the expulsion at gunpoint of about 60 IWW members, who were loaded on a cattle car and shipped west. Production at the mines, always subject to fluctuations for various reasons, boomed during World War I, fell thereafter, rose again, then fell again during and after the Great Depression. As the ore deposits became exhausted, the mines closed, and the population dwindled to fewer than 100 by the mid-1950s.

Efforts to save the town from oblivion succeeded when residents turned to tourism and retail sales. Jerome became a National Historic Landmark in 1967. In the early 21st century, Jerome has art galleries, coffee houses, restaurants, wineries, and a state park and local museum devoted to mining history.

Most of Cleopatra Hill, the rock formation upon which Jerome was built, is 1.75 billion years old. Created by a massive caldera eruption in Precambrian seas south of what later became northern Arizona, the Cleopatra tuff was then part of a small tectonic plate that was moving toward the proto-North American continent. After the eruption, cold sea water entered Earth's crust through cracks caused by the eruption. Heated by rising magma to perhaps 660 ° Fahrenheit, the water was forced upward again, chemically altering the rocks it encountered and becoming rich in dissolved minerals. When the hot solution emerged from a hydrothermal vent at the bottom of the ocean, its dissolved minerals solidified and fell to the sea floor. The accumulating sulfide deposits from two such vents formed the ore bodies, the United Verde and the UVX, most important to Jerome 1.75 billion years later.

These ore bodies formed in different places along a ring fault in the caldera. About 50 million years after they were deposited, the tectonic plate of which they were a part collided with another small plate and then with the proto-North American continent. The collisions, which welded the plates to the continent, folded the Cleopatra tuff in such a way that the two ore bodies ended up on opposite sides of a fold called the Jerome anticline.

35th Ave Locksmith Child Safety Tips For Your Home

Think Like A Child

Explore your home at the child's level – by getting down on your hands and knees and moving around each room. Ask yourself what looks tempting and what's within reach (between the floor and about 40 inches above). Remove or secure any items that could be dangerous.

Also, check carpets for buried dangers like pins, coins or other things a child could choke on.

Post Emergency Numbers By All Telephones

Check your state law to find out the age you can allow your child to stay home alone. Then set your child up to have a safe experience while you are gone. Make sure your child has easy access to this information:
911 for emergencies
1-800-222-1222 for the Poison Control Center

The number for a pediatrician, police, fire department, emergency medical services and a neighbor.
Your home address so that caregivers and children can easily tell emergency personnel how to locate the home

Create House Rules

Establish house rules and make sure your child is comfortable with them. Some common guidelines:
Don't answer the door
Let the phone go to voicemail
Do not allow friends in the house unless a parent is at home
If your child stays home alone after school, agree on a daily check-in procedure. Set a time when you’ll call home or your child will call you. Tell your child how to contact you and what time you'll return home at day’s end.

Walk Around Your House Together

Take a tour of your house and point out potential hazards to your child, such as electrical appliances and heating equipment. Discuss which appliances and electronic devices can and can't be used when you’re not home (e.g., the microwave is OK, but the oven is not).

Make sure your child knows the location of the smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Also, make sure they know your family's fire escape plan. Remind them to get out of the house immediately if an alarm goes off, and to call the fire department from a neighbor's phone.

Prepare a snack or meal for your child in advance, preferably one that does not need to be heated. If your child must use the stove or oven, remind him or her never to leave a pot unattended while cooking and to check that the stove, oven or burner is turned off when they finish.

35th Ave Locksmith Safety Tips For Parents

When looking for a new home we want a good neighborhood and good schools. Unfortunately no neighborhood is completely safe from crime.

However, there are steps you can take to help protect your family and make your neighborhood a safer place to live.

Know where your children are. Have your children tell you or ask permission before leaving the house and give them a time to check in or be home. When possible, have them leave a phone number of where they will be.

Help children learn important phone numbers. Have your children practice reciting their home phone number and address, and your work and cell phone numbers. If they have trouble memorizing these, write them down on a card and have them carry it at all times. Tell your children where you will be and the best way to reach you.

Set limits on where your children can go in your neighborhood. Do you want them crossing busy roads? Playing in alleys or abandoned buildings? Are there certain homes in your neighborhood that you don't want your children to go to?

Get to know your children's friends. Meet their parents before letting your children to go to their home and keep a list of their phone numbers. If you can't meet their parents, call and talk to them. Ask what your children might do at their house and if they will be supervised.

Choose a safe house in your neighborhood. Pick a neighbor's house where your children can go if they need help. Point out other places they can go for help, like stores, libraries, and police stations.
Teach children to settle arguments with words, not fists. Role-play talking out problems, walking away from fist fights, and what to do when confronted with bullies. Remind them that taunting and teasing can hurt friends and make enemies.

Work together with your neighbors. Watch out for suspicious and unusual behavior in your neighborhood. Get to know your neighbors and their children so you can look out for one another.

Put in place a traffic watch. People speeding through your neighborhood can put children at a special risk.  Special signs and speed bumps may also help protect the local children.

35th Ave Locksmith Asks Does Your Community Have A Block Watch?

Neighborhood Watch, Block Watch, Town Watch, Building Watch, Crime Watch – whatever the name, its one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime and reduce fear. Neighborhood Watch fights the isolation that crime both creates and feeds upon. It forges bonds among area residents, helps reduce burglaries and robberies, and improves relations between police and the communities they server.

Why Neighborhood Watch?

It works. Throughout the country, dramatic decreases in burglary and related offenses are reported by law enforcement professionals in communities with active Watch Programs

Today’s transient society produces communities that are less personal. Many families have two working parents and children involved in many activities that keep them away from home. An empty house in a neighborhood where none of the neighbors know the owner is a primary target for burglary.

Neighborhood Watch also helps build pride and serves as a springboard for efforts that address other community concerns such as recreation for youth, child care, and affordable housing.

How Does a Neighborhood Watch Start?

A motivated individual, a few concerned residents, a community organization, or a law enforcement agency can spearhead the efforts to establish a Watch. Together they can:

Organize a small planning committee of neighbors to discuss needs, the level of interest, and the possible community problems.

Contact the local police or sheriff’s department, or local crime prevention organization, for help in training members in home security and reporting skills and for information on local crime patterns.

Hold an initial meeting to gauge neighbors’ interest; establish the purpose of the program; and begin to identify issues that need to be addressed.

Select a coordinator.

Ask for block captain volunteers who are responsible for relaying information to the members.

Recruit members, keeping up-to-date information on new residents and making special efforts to involve the elderly, working parents, and young people.

Work with local government or law enforcement to put up Neighborhood Watch signs, usually after at least 50 percent of all households are enrolled.

35th Ave Locksmith Presents Key Arizona Places: Awatovi Ruins

Awatovi Ruins is a National Historic Landmark in Hopi Reservation, designated in 1964. In 1540, Coronado's men visited this village. What remains are the ruins of a five hundred year old pueblo. There are also ruins from a Spanish mission built in the 17th century. It is within the bounds of the Hopi Indian Reservation.

In the 1930s, Hopi artist Fred Kabotie was commissioned by the Peabody Museum to reproduce the prehistoric murals found during the excavation of the Awatovi Ruins.

Awatovi was founded sometime after 1300, according to ceramics recovered from the archaeological excavations of Awatovi. It quickly grew to be the largest and most important village within the Hopi area. It housed members of the Bow Clan and was the largest of the villages on Antelope Mesa. There is some archaeological evidence to suggest that while modern Hopis claim ancestry with the Jeddito Phase sites, including Awatovi, these Jeddito villages may not have been Hopi.

The Antonio de Espejo expedition spent several days at the Hopi villages before turning southwest to the Verde Valley. Juan de Oñate, in 1598, found the Hopis ready to capitulate formally to the King of Spain. Oñate visited the pueblos again in 1605, and Captain Gerónimo Marquez in 1614, but not until 1629 did the Spanish make any substantial missionary effort among the Hopis. This same year the Spanish friars built the mission of San Bernardo de Aguatubi over the main kiva at Awatovi, following the practice of "supremacy" where the church would be built over the most important site of the heathen religion.

During the Pueblo Revolt, the Hopis razed the church at Awatovi and killed the priests operating at the other Hopi villages. The Hopis expected reprisals for participating in the 1680 rebellion, but none came. When Diego de Vargas, the reconqueror, arrived in 1692, the Hopis apparently reswore their allegiance to Spain, and he departed without incident. Not long afterward, the Spaniards rebuilt the mission of San Bernardo de Aguatubi.

In 1700, tensions began to grow in the pueblo of Awatovi between the converted Hopis and traditionalists. By the end of 1700, the extreme hostility of most Hopis to Christian converts at Awatovi led to the destruction of the pueblo. The attackers killed all the men at Awatovi, and scattered the women and children among the other villages. The site was never reoccupied.

Extensive archeological excavations were conducted at Awatovi by J. O. Brew of the Peabody Museum in the 1930s. Brew's extensive artifact collections and archives are held at the Peabody Museum. Most of his excavations have been backfilled.

35th Ave Locksmith Asks Is Your Home Safe For The Big Weekend?

Yes, we are just a few days away from the biggest football weekend.  Will your home be a party host or will it be one of the many empty homes who’s family is away to be part of the celebration?

Few thieves miss a gold platted opportunity to steal from you.  Have you posted your plans on social media? Will your car be gone from your driveway on Sunday rather than at home?

Will your living room be dark? Will your home be a quiet oasis as the neighbor’s homes party around it?

Basic preventative measures (which take only minutes to complete) can work wonders to help you avoid power surges, broken pipes, home invasions and more.

Protecting your home while away for a day or longer is a very good idea.

Be careful what you say on your answering machine or voice mail too. Callers don't need to know that you're not home -- they just need to know that you can't come to the phone right now.

A simple, albeit crucial, way to gain peace of mind while you are away for the big game is to ask a friend or neighbor to keep an eye on your house while you're away. He or she should also have your contact information and a copy of your itinerary in case of emergencies.

Do you have more than one person visiting your house while you're away? If so, tell them about each other! If the watchful neighbor you asked to keep an eye on your abode calls the police on your elderly cat sitter, don't say we didn't warn you.

Murphy's Law for partiers: If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong while you're watching or celebrating -- which is arguably the worst time a household calamity can strike.

Before you leave for the party, you may decide to close your curtains to prevent people from peering inside your home to see whether you're there. However, closed curtains also stop those who aim to help -- the police, your neighbors or friends -- from seeing inside your house. So what's your best bet? Leave your curtains exactly as you usually keep them when you're home, since noticeable changes could hint that you're not around anymore. Perhaps leave your TV on and set to the game.

You may also want to contact your local neighborhood watch program if there's one in your area.

35th Ave Locksmith Marks The King Holiday

The federal holiday is the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.  but there also is the national Martin Luther King Day of Service was started by former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Harris Wofford and Atlanta Congressman John Lewis, who co-authored the King Holiday and Service Act. The federal legislation challenges Americans to transform the King Holiday into a day of citizen action volunteer service in honor of Dr. King. The federal legislation was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on August 23, 1994. Since 1996, Wofford's former state office director, Todd Bernstein, has been directing the annual Greater Philadelphia King Day of Service, the largest event in the nation honoring Dr. King.

Several other universities and organizations around the U.S., such as Arizona State University, Greater DC Cares and City Year, participate in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. In honor of MLK, hundreds of Volunteer Centers, and volunteers across the country donate their time to make a difference on this day.

The idea of Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a holiday was promoted by labor unions in contract negotiations. After King's death, United States Representative John Conyers (a Democrat from Michigan) and United States Senator Edward Brooke (a Republican from Massachusetts) introduced a bill in Congress to make King's birthday a national holiday. The bill first came to a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1979. However, it fell five votes short of the number needed for passage. Two of the main arguments mentioned by opponents were that a paid holiday for federal employees would be too expensive, and that a holiday to honor a private citizen would be contrary to longstanding tradition (King had never held public office). Only two other people have national holidays in the United States honoring them: George Washington and Christopher Columbus.

Soon after, the King Center turned to support from the corporate community and the general public. The success of this strategy was cemented when musician Stevie Wonder released the single "Happy Birthday" to popularize the campaign in 1980 and hosted the Rally for Peace Press Conference in 1981. Six million signatures were collected for a petition to Congress to pass the law, termed by a 2006 article in The Nation as "the largest petition in favor of an issue in U.S. history."

On May 2, 2000, South Carolina governor Jim Hodges signed a bill to make Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday an official state holiday. South Carolina was the last state to recognize the day as a paid holiday for all state employees. Prior to this, employees could choose between celebrating Martin Luther King Day or one of three Confederate holidays.

35th Ave Locksmith Says Don’t Confuse A Hardware Store With A Locksmith

When you think of a store to get a key made, buy a replacement lock set or a small safe is the first store that comes to mind a “Locksmith” of a Hardware store? Most well stock hardware store do duplicate keys and many even sell lock sets. So do Locksmiths. So just what is the difference?

A locksmith can make all types of keys and keep thousands of blank styles in stock. If you are lucky the hardware stock may have a couple of hundred in stock.  There the key will be made by an untrained employee using a key-trace machine.

In a locksmith shop your key will be carefully duplicated by a trained or certified technician. They have the knowledge to know how a worn key is cut different from a new one.  That way your duplicate key works the first time and no return visit to the store is needed.

When it is time to buy or have a lock repaired where do you go?  To a locksmith shop of course.  In a hardware store you will be told the locks are on isle 6A.  In a locksmith shop you be asked about your needs and you will be educated on the different qualities, safety features and security level so you can purchase the right lock for your home or business. An interior lock is much different from the one needed for your front door.

What if you need a key created? Is the hardware store going to be able to help make a new key from scratch? If you lose your last key getting a new needs a locksmith and 35th Ave Locksmith is the one you need.

Losing keys can be a frustrating experience, especially if there are no spares inside or neighbors with a spare. It can also be a matter of security to find the best and most efficient way to replace a lost house key to ensure the missing key doesn’t fall into the hands of criminals. Therefore, make quick work of choosing one of these methods to resolve your missing key issue and keep your home safe and secure.

It gets even more frustrating when you are the one on the outside in the pouring rain or freezing cold. You need a professional, certified locksmith to come and rescue you.

It’s less expensive to re-key your existing locks than to completely replace every exterior door lock, but both are options.

Consider having each door re-fitted to work with a different key. For example, you can retool the backyard door to open with a different key than the front door uses. This option could reduce future lockout and security issues.

If losing keys is an unfortunate habit, consider installing key code or electronic key-less entry locks instead of standard locks.

Secure your home with proper locks and safety devices. Are you ready to choose that quality locksmith? A quick visit to 35thavelocksmith.com can help solve all of your locksmith needs. We provide auto, residential and commercial locksmith services to meet all of our customers' needs. Our services include key cutting, lock change, lock repair, and 24/7 emergency lockout services.  We are a family owned and operated locksmith company in Phoenix Arizona. 35th Ave Locksmith Presents Key Arizona Places: Tombstone

Tombstone is Arizona’s historic western city in Cochise County, founded in 1879 by Ed Schieffelin in what was then Pima County, Arizona Territory. It was one of the last wide-open frontier boomtowns in the American Old West. The town prospered from about 1877 to 1890, during which time the town's mines produced $40 to $85 million in silver bullion, the largest productive silver district in Arizona. Its population grew from 100 to around 14,000 in less than seven years. It is best known as the site of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and draws most of its revenue from tourism.

The town was established on a mesa above the Tough Nut Mine. Within two years of its founding, although far distant from any other metropolitan city, Tombstone boasted a bowling alley, four churches, an ice house, a school, two banks, three newspapers, and an ice cream parlor, alongside 110 saloons, 14 gambling halls, and numerous dancing halls and brothels.

All of these were situated among and on top of a large number of dirty, hardscrabble mines. The gentlemen and ladies of Tombstone attended operas presented by visiting acting troupes at the Schieffelin Hall opera house, while the miners and cowboys saw shows at the Bird Cage Theatre, "the wildest, wickedest night spot between Basin Street and the Barbary Coast".

Under the surface were tensions that grew into deadly conflict. The mining capitalists and townspeople were largely Republicans from the Northern states. Many of the ranchers in the area were Confederate sympathizers and Democrats.

The booming city was only 30 miles from the U.S. Mexico border and was an open market for beef stolen from ranches in Sonora, Mexico, by a loosely organized band of outlaws known as The Cowboys. The Earp brothers, Virgil, Wyatt, Morgan and Warren, arrived in December 1879 and summer 1880. They had ongoing conflicts with Ike and Billy Clanton, Frank and Tom McLaury, and other Cowboys members. The Cowboys repeatedly threatened the Earps over many months until the conflict escalated into a confrontation that turned into a shootout, the now-famous Hollywood-ized Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. The actual gun fight was on Fremont Street a block or 2 away from the O.K. Corral.

In the mid-1880s, the silver mines penetrated the water table and the mining companies made significant investments in specialized pumps. A fire in 1886 destroyed the Grand Central hoist and pumping plant, and it was unprofitable to rebuild the costly pumps. The city nearly became a ghost town, only saved from that end because it was the Cochise County seat until 1929. The city's population dwindled to a low of 646 in 1910, but in 2010 the population was 1,380. It has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names.

Just three hours south of Phoenix, on Interstate 10, a visit to Tombstone is a fun and educational day for the entire family.

35th Ave Locksmith Says Beware of Prices Too Good To Be True

There are scams in nearly all businesses.  Every so often they show up in local news stories.  After hail storms there are fake roofing companies that rip people off. Remodel companies that promise a new kitchen or bathroom remodel that are priced too low or promise completion way too fast.  The customer ends up paying far too much and may never get the promised work.

There are locksmith scams that traps desperate home and auto owners into overpaying for emergency services has been named as one of the fastest growing frauds in the country.

Unlicensed and unqualified, bogus lock technicians charge up to 10 times the going rate for rescuing locked-out victims.

You run an Internet service search and see a fantastic rate to get your car door opened.  You call the number and are told it is a local company and are given a $15 door price for a service call to open your car.  You wait and wait and finally someone comes and opens your car door and are handed a bill for hundreds of dollars.  You scream you were told the service would be just $15.00 and are told that doesn’t apply to your car model.

If you don’t pay they just relock your call and leave you still stranded.

If you think this doesn’t happen take a look at this video.
http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/23584918/run-local-locksmith-owner-runs-away

runlocallocksmith.com may be gone but the video tells that they have opened under a new name and from the Dominican Republic are still operating the scam. When you call a company be sure you are talking to a local company and will get treated fairly.

Ask yourself, how would a company stay in business operating a mobile service that takes an employee and a vehicle many miles and say an hour to complete for just a $15.00? They must buy the truck and carry commercial insurance on the truck, the employee and the business. Those costs alone eats up much of that $15.

To avoid this scam try the following safeguards.

Before even contacting them, check their ad and website for a local address.

When the locksmith arrives, check out their vehicle. Make a note of the license number. Be very dubious if they roll up in an unmarked vehicle or if their behavior seems unprofessional in any way.

Don’t hand over your credit card or cash until you are happy with the estimate. If they insist on cash, by the way, that’s another potential scam signal.

If you run into trouble and encounter threats and other unreasonable behavior, call the police. Tell the police this is about personal safety and not a merchant dispute.

35th Ave Locksmith Falls Number One Home Safety Concern

The number one injury that is suffered at home is as the result of a fall. You may worry about other dangers at home but the mostly way you will be injured is from a fall.

Six out of every 10 falls happen at home, where we spend much of our time and tend to move around without thinking about our safety. Many falls could be prevented by making simple changes in your living areas, as well as personal and lifestyle changes.

Falls are the leading type of unintentional home-related injury deaths. Falls occur most commonly in:

Doorways
Ramps
Ladders
Stairs
Crowded areas
Areas with uneven surfaces
Among older adults, falls can result in serious injury and an increased risk of fatality.

Fall Proofing Your Home

You can prevent falls by "fall-proofing your home." Take simple steps such as storing objects within easy reach and keeping electrical cords out of the way. If possible, add handrails to stairs to keep your family safe and use non-skid bath mats to prevent falls in the bathroom. Teach children to pick up their toys when done playing and keep your own home clean by wiping up spills immediately. These are just a few of the ways you can keep the ones you love from slipping and tripping.

Older Adult Falls

Adults 55 and older are more prone to becoming victims of falls. You can prevent older adult falls by improving balance through exercise and visiting the doctor annually. Other precautions include wearing fitted shoes, knowing the side effects of medications and storing those meds in a well-lit area.

Consider

Fall prevention (e.g., elimination of hazards such as throw rugs, clutter in pathways),

Home modification (e.g., environmental adaptations such as grab bars, better lighting)

35th Ave Locksmith Your True Local Locksmith and Safe Supplier

We are located in the Phoenix Metro area at the corner of Cactus Road and Thirty-fifth Avenue on the north west side. To the thousands of residents and hundreds of businesses we are your local locksmith.

Do you have valuables at home or in your business that need extra protection?  Have you considered a safe to help do the job of securing money, coins, paper work, certificates, jewelry or so many other items that need protection from theft, fire or natural disasters?

How do you choose the right safe for your needs?  The amount of items you need to protect will determine the size of the safe you need to use.

Determine the volume of items that will go in the safe and leave a little spare room for future additions. This will give you an idea of how large a safe you need. Remember, smaller safes are easier to conceal and more versatile for other environments.

Decide if you want the safe to be portable or permanently installed (bolting to the floor or setting in a wall). Choose the model and size accordingly. If you choose a portable safe, can it be carried by each adult in the household in an emergency?

Research the safe’s cash rating, which indicates how burglar-resistant the safe is. Typically, this rating is calculated by the strength of the safe’s door and walls, the complexity of the locking mechanism and the difficulty in removing the safe from its location. Generally, the higher the cash rating, the more secure the safe is. Remember, the fire rating and the cash rating are unrelated. A high cash rating does not imply good fire resistance (and vice-versa). Do the research on the model you are considering.

Understand the safe’s fire rating, which reflects the amount of time the safe can withstand direct flame without the contents combusting. This is usually measured in hours and we suggest a minimum of a one-hour fire rating.

Opt for a combination lock rather than a keyed lock. Combinations are typically easy to remember or jot down in a secret or off-site location. Keys get lost over time or can be forgotten in a panic situation.

Consider your budget and purchase the highest-grade safe that can reasonably meet your needs. Most home safes retail for around $150 but can go as high as $800. Consider a higher-grade safe and perhaps sacrifice a few cubic inches. Remember, safes are for the protection of cash, valuables, and essential documentation. Avoid the temptation to include too many purely sentimental items if space is at a premium.

35th Ave Locksmith Can Duplicate Your Car Keys

When locksmiths were first being trained to make locks and keys as a trade there is no way for them to have imagined the complex and sophisticated locking mechanisms that a car locksmith would service today.

Prior to the advent of machines to mass produce locks and keys in a short amount of time, locksmith would make each individual lock by hand nearly ensuring that every lock and key set they made would be slightly different than the other. Of course, the amount of fine detail that they were able to put into locks was extremely limited. In this day and age we now see locks which also correspond with computers, making them some of the most secure locks that have ever been developed. To service a lock as a car locksmith, there is a great deal of training that was be completed so that you can fully understand the complex systems of the ignition, key and locks.

Before the 2000’s it was still relative easy for a locksmith to make a duplicate vehicle key because all that had to be done by the car locksmith was to make the correct cuts on a blank key. However this changed with transponder keys which have changed the way that car key security works. A transponder key is a vehicle key which, in addition to having the correct cuts, has a transponder chip inside of the key head itself. This chip communicates with the car’s on board computer allowing for the vehicle to be started. Without the correct transponder chip inside of the key then the computer inside of the vehicle will not allow it to start. This adds extra security to your vehicle because the code and machine that are necessary to program the key to the vehicle are only able to be purchased by licensed locksmiths, keeping these tools away from possible criminals.

Sometimes issues can come up with the transponder key’s chip itself which would require it being reprogrammed to the vehicle. A sign that this would be the issue is that your key is still turning in the ignition but the vehicle does not turn on or start. If you have the right car locksmith available in your area then having this service completed can take absolutely no time at all.

When most people think of a car locksmith it is generally for when they have locked themselves outside of their vehicle with the keys inside. The key for when this happens is to be prepared. Have the number of a trusted locksmith available in your phone so that you know you will get quick service and not be ripped off with unfair pricing. A great way to find a locksmith you trust if you have not had to use a locksmith before, would be to ask friends and family members who have had to call a mobile car locksmith to get some ideas. The worst possible thing to happen is to be unprepared and then have difficulty finding a 24 hour car locksmith near you. Some locksmith companies charge extremely high prices for emergency calls, it is important to ask if pricing differs depending on timing when you first begin to research the locksmith company that you are going to choose.

If you are calling a locksmith service in a nonemergency way there are several measures you can take to ensure that you will not be overcharged and that you are receiving a fair deal. When calling to the locksmith make sure that you ask for a total price with all fees included. Some locksmiths may try to hide fees until they arrive on scene, however if you ask in advance you are able to avoid this entirely. In addition to asking for the total price, ask if the company will match competitors pricing. Many mobile car locksmiths will do this and it can result in huge savings for you

35th Ave Locksmith Has Your Lock and Key Solutions

One of the great pairs in life is that of a quality Lock and it’s matching Key.  Both parts of this pair must be working correctly for them to be effective.

The very nature of a key is that it will eventually wear out and need to be replaced. In many cases the need to replace a key is that it is lost way before it wears out.

Your lock, if it is a quality brand, will last many, many years and operate for many thousands of cycles before it needs repair or replacing.

But when a key is misplaced or lost should the lock be rekeyed and new keys made to protect your family? Do you wonder who finds that lost key? Do wonder if they can trace it back to your home?

If an unmarked single key is lost it may never be able to be traced back home. But what of a set of keys that is lost or stolen along with a purse? Or what of a key or keys that are lost on your own lawn? Would someone try that set on your house?

Do you run or jog as part of your daily routine? You carry your keys and your cell phone, right?  You are careful not to lose your phone, right?  But, your keys carry and even greater risk. Do you know and trust everyone who see as your run the same path every day? Do you know if they know your start and end point of your run? If you work out at a gym you may face the same risks with a lost or forgotten set of keys.

Anyone who rents property knows that with a change of tenant locks should be rekeyed. But what about loaning a key to a service or repairman?  Afterwards, should you rekey your property?

Who will you have rekey your home or property? May we suggest that in the Phoenix Metro area that you consider 35th Avenue Locksmith for that very sensitive work.

While there are many places that will copy an existing key have you ever had to have the drug store or big box store remake a key because the first time they got it wrong the first time? That will never happen at 35th Avenue Locksmith. Keys are made right the first time, every time!

If you only have a single good key left who will you trust it to? Would you dare place it in an automated key vending machine? What if that machine fails to complete the job and then doesn’t even return your single good key?  How long before someone can come and retrieve your key? Will it be hours or days before you get your key back?

Are you ready to choose a quality and trusted locksmith? A quick visit to 35thavelocksmith.com can help solve all of your locksmith needs. We are a family owned and operated locksmith company in Phoenix Arizona. Our company is over 30 years old and at its heart is a certified locksmith.
